Help us not be
HOMELESS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
My father in law finally went off the deep end 2 days before we moved there (we were moving there on Thanksgiving while our stuff was being shipped there). He became paranoid and delusional when we asked him to put gun locks on his 2 handguns he kept in the house. He refused, started yelling at my husband for trying to control his life and basically hung up after ranting about how much danger he was in as an elderly man living alone. I add he has never had a cause to use a handgun in his over 70 years, nor has anyone broken into his home.
Two hours before his flight to Alaska for Thanksgiving, he sent my husband a text on voxer saying we were too much stress and were no longer are welcome in his house and he wasn’t leaving the keys. It is as crazy as it sounds. We didn’t even get the chance to argue with him like he claims we did as he hung up less than a minute after we mentioned gun locks. He now can’t be reached. This has been in the works for a year. We are now homeless. Life never gets boring.
An amazing friend in another state has generously offered their couch for a couple weeks (landlord limitations) and hopefully we will find something affordable before we need to move to a hotel (Thank you so much Alec Chlastawa!!!). It being the holiday season, this is not going to be easy, we are prepared for that; but this last minute plan change is going to wipe out the money we put aside for an apt deposit. The move was already costing over $3k, the delay has added another $2k.
So, after much thought and discussion we’ve decided to turn to our friends here and on FB, as whether we know you in person or not, we consider you our friends. Anyone who may be in the giving mood and have an extra $5 or whatever, we have a donate button at the bottom of the front page here, that goes directly into our Paypal. For those of the Christian faith, consider it a Christmas gift in the giving spirit of Christ; or maybe you like watching our Local Weirdos livestreams and want us to get settled fast so we can stream as soon as possible.. whatever your motives, we thank you in advance.
Over the last 13 years, we’ve given our home, money and time to anyone who needed it, generally not getting paid or being robbed for our kindness. This hasn’t changed us, we’ve given away half of what we own this month alone to people who have been there for us. We are hoping this could be a good way to pay us back cheaply and easily; or say help a family member or friend you wanted to but haven’t known how (like us, hopefully us, heh).
We’ve never asked this before, and probably won’t again as we are not good at receiving, were better at giving. That’s not a claim to morals, its just what we are compelled to do.. it makes us happy to give. In fact, if there is anything anyone reading this needs that we can do or give.. and I mean need, not want, please ask. We still are givers, even if were asking to receive right now.
So Happy Chrismahanakwanzacule!! Hope yours is going better than ours. Love and Peace to everyone. Our hearts and best wishes are with you in your celebrations.
